The register

Every question we answer

The answer first, then the costs with a named document on every rate, then the rules, then what we refuse to print.

  • Abu Dhabi

    Buying property in Abu Dhabi

Who may hold freehold and where, what the registration fee is split between, how the off-plan escrow law works, and the one residency figure we refuse to print because the official sources disagree.

  • Dubai

Buying property in Dubai from abroad

Freehold for non-nationals, a passport at the counter, the power of attorney and its attestation, and what the Central Bank lets a bank lend.

  • Dubai

The cost of buying property in Dubai

The registration fee, the half the law puts on the buyer, the trustee and title-deed fees and the mortgage rate — each with the instrument behind it.

  • Dubai

The golden visa through property in Dubai

The value that qualifies, what the application costs line by line, which purchases count — and the term two official hosts state differently.

  • Dubai

Payment plans for off-plan property in Dubai

Escrow, the interim register and the fees to enter it, what a bank lends against an unbuilt unit, and what the developer may keep if the buyer stops paying.

  • Dubai

Oqood, escrow and how to check a Dubai project

What the Oqood entry is, where the money for an unbuilt project sits, and the public search, open to anyone, that returns the escrow account and the project's status.

  • Dubai

    Service charges in Dubai

How the charge is calculated, what a manager may not do without RERA and an audit, and the public lookup for one project — with no per-foot range, because none is published.

How a guide is written

A rate without a document is a dash.

The fee schedule, the escrow law, the visa threshold, the mortgage cap: each of these is the kind of number that walks into a text by itself. On these pages a rate is printed only with the instrument that states it and the date it was read; where the official sources disagree, both are named and neither is chosen.

This is also the part of the register that other sites link to, so it is the part that has to be worth linking.
